Mucomir Quarry Public Exhibition

SSE Renewables will hold a public exhibition in Spean Bridge to provide information on proposals to use land at Mucomir Quarry, east of Gairlochy, as part of its consented Coire Glas Hydro Pumped Storage project at Loch Lochy in the Great Glen.

Work is currently being conducted to assess whether Mucomir Quarry could be used as an area for the storage of the excavated material that will be generated during the construction of Coire Glas. The exhibition is an early opportunity for members of the public to find out more and discuss the proposals with members of the Coire Glas project team.

The event will take place from 2pm-7pm in Spean Bridge Community Centre on April 21st. All of the information displayed at this public exhibition will also be available to view on the Coire Glas website from 10am on Tuesday, April 19th.

Andy Gregory, Coire Glas Project Manager, said:

“The work to assess whether Mucomir Quarry could form part of the spoil management solution for Coire Glas is at a very early stage. We want to ensure members of the community have a chance to consult with us and give their views at every step of the process and the exhibition on 21st April is the first opportunity for that to happen.

“The exhibition will present our early assessments of why Mucomir Quarry could be a suitable location for the storage of excavated material and highlight some of the issues we will address as the proposals proceed towards the likely submission of a planning application to Highland Council later in the year.”
