Invergarry Primary School enjoys site visit to Coire Glas Exploratory Works

SSE Renewables welcomed 12 pupils from Invergarry Primary School on a site visit to Coire Glas this week.

The children and teachers learned about the Exploratory Works being undertaken on site and were shown rock samples extracted from 500m in to the exploratory tunnel The samples are thought to be approximately 330million years old.

The children said their highlights were ‘seeing the exploratory tunnel and the Boomer’, which is the machine used for drilling.

SSE Renewables is celebrating 70 years of hydropower and the Coire Glas team look forward to visiting the school, where the children will learn more about the Coire Glas project and the history of hydro in the Great Glen.
