Coire Glas funds new team shelters for Glengarry Shinty Club

SSE Renewables’ project, Coire Glas, has provided vital funding for the purchase of new pitch-side shelters for Glengarry Shinty Club.

The £5840 donation supports ambitious investment plans at Craigard Park, home of Glengarry Shinty Club, in a bid to enhance facilities for the club and attract high profile matches to the area.

Coire Glas is a hydro pumped storage scheme with a potential to provide 30GWhrs, which is enough storage to power over three million homes for 24 hours. Located at Loch Lochy, it will be the first large scale pumped storage project to be developed in the UK for more than 40 years.

Jade Clark, Stakeholder Engagement Manager for Coire Glas, said:

“Coire Glas is committed to supporting a diverse range of projects within the local community that have a lasting positive impact and we are delighted to support Glengarry Shinty Club’s ambitious development plans at their home park, Craigard.”

Glengarry Shinty Club, formed in 1976, brings together players from around the Great Glen with a successful men’s team and one of the first women’s teams’ established in 1997. Youth Development is at the forefront of their plans, with their U17’s recently retaining the UHI Salver for the second year in a row.

Club Chairman, Scott Bremner, expressed his thanks for the support from SSE Renewables.

“We are extremely grateful for this generous contribution. The new shelters will make a significant difference for our club. SSE Renewables have been a long-standing supporter of the club, and it is great they continue to invest in local sports that are at the heart of our community.’
